I'm not feeling particularly talkative tonight but I feel like typing so I figured I'd come here. It's been a heck of a long time since I last posted and probably should have checked out when that was so I'd know where to pick up. Some of the important stuff that happened the second half of last year (yeah I went back and looked :D).
Hmm, where to start. Jeyton did get into PreK and while he had the most wonderful teacher the first half of the school year, we're now dealing with a lot of BS there. Apparently getting the higher up's to contact me will take an act of God. Even when I contact someone above their heads. :P That's a long story that we really shouldn't have to be dealing with in the first place. Deals with 'teachers' NOT watching kids and not teaching them properly. I mean, the real reason we started him in school was for socialization. We live in the country. Wanna know how many kids live around here (within a few miles?) 2 our kid and his cousin. lol. Anyways, that's not the point. We've kinda had problems from the start because of everything that we'd taught him before starting school. He's bored. We had talked to the original teacher about finding harder things to do for him but now that she's gone that's probably out the window. Also, Jeyton hass been sick more since he's started school than the whole rest of his life. :P That's frustrating. But that's also what you get when you're relying on so many parents to step up and make sure their kids are healthy. I've never been so frustrated with parents as some of the ones at his school. They just dump their kids off and go. Don't show up for school functions and don't make them do their homework. I mean really? It's a coloring page, how hard is that to get done? I've had Jeyton doing his in the truck while Jordan was working.
We took Jeyton on the first trip that he'll really remember and that he was old enough to enjoy. We went to Ft Davis with a couple of friends. Everyone had such a good time. Jeyton enjoyed going to the observatory and seeing the stars, and Saturn! He talked about it for forever :D We stayed at the greatest little cabins right outside of the town, they were Mountain Trails Lodge. Such a great place and the people who run it are super wonderful. We ended up cooking our own dinners both nights we were there. They have an amazing pavilion thing with bbq pit and everything, we enjoyed the heck out of that area :D There were NO TV's in the rooms, which we LOVED. It was great. Just spending the time enjoying each other's company. And I was able to knit, hehehe is that bad?
I've still been doing some Sample knitting and testing. That's been a ton of fun. But here lately with everything going on with Jeyton's school I haven't gotten much knitting time :( bummer. I'm proud of myself though, last year I spent less than 100 bucks on yarn. ALL YEAR LONG. whoo hoo me. This year, I've got high hopes for the sheep on the ranch. I plan on having some of it processed through a fiber mill and seeing about selling it online or maybe even talking to some of the LYS around the area. Some of it will be turned into Roving and maybe even some yarn. I cannot wait. I've been told over and over by Jordan's dad that the wool off of the ranch is used in fine business suits! I've been looking at Micron counts and what not too. I know our bucks counted between 18 and 22 in October. The ewes are finer. We'll shear in March but I plan on calling around to some mills this month. It just sucks that there isn't one locally that I can support :( I don't know how many fleeces I'll pull out or how much money I'll have to spend to have it processed but it's going to happen. I have also thought about selling some of it raw online. I've seen it listed on Etsy and the like. Maybe I can sell some and use that as start up money to have it processed? I haven't decided. I don't know if any place in the area would be willing to sell it (processed of course) but I can hope right ;)
We're still in the tiny house and it's still in the same condition it was when I last typed. Lifted and Leveled but still waiting on the guy to come put in the new windows and fix the ceiling. Apparently there's just the one guy in the whole town that can/will come out here and work and he's really busy. :P It's getting harder to live here as we've acquired a lot more stuff since last time. We've run out of storage but there's not really a whole lot of frivolous stuff in here. It's a bummer too. Looks cluttered even when it's clean. The only thing that might could be gotten rid of (wow what a poor sentence) is toys. But even then, he plays with most of them.
For the most part I guess that about sums up the last half year. Oh except one little thing. We finally got married ;) yep, after 6 years it is done. :D was so great. Very simple, small ceremony on the front porch of a bed and breakfast in Ballinger with a lunch the next day.
I hope everyone's life is fairing well and not near as hectic as ours. Even though I haven't typed it all out there's drama and bs every time we turn around it seems. One day, things will slow down and not be such a struggle but for now, we're just fairing the storm together.
